Girls Swimming: East Ridge wins over Roseville on Thursday night

East Ridge 93, Roseville 72

The Raptors dominated throughout Thursday night as East Ridge captured the victory over Roseville.

The night started off with a sweep from East Ridge in the first four events. The Raptors swept in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM and 50-yard freestyle.

The sweeps and early lead built some confidence for East Ridge as the team went into the middle of the meet. The sweeping came again in the 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle.

The early lead allowed East Ridge to keep the lead towards the end of the meet as Roseville was trying to make a push of its own.

Along with the sweeps, the Raptors had different swimmers win first place in each of the events East Ridge won. The swimmers ranged from younger freshman to veteran seniors, which makes head coach Kathy Madden happy.

Madden said earlier in the season that she was hoping to see the younger swimmers continue to learn and make some key contributions towards the end of the season. Those younger swimmers are doing just that with only a few more weeks until section and state meets.

East Ridge will be hosting the True Team section meet on Saturday, Oct. 6 to a spot in the True Team state finals.
