Why are you seeking election?
To bring a voice that hasn't been represented at the council before. I am an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe. I have spent my entire life working with and for communities that have been historically underrepresented.
What skills and qualifications would you bring to public office?
I have worked professionally in community and economic development for diverse communities. Locally I have been active on school parent committee and youth sports development.
What does the city need to do to ensure all Cottage Grove residents have safe drinking water?
Work with all involved entities from county to state and even corporate partners to develop common sense solutions. Leveraging resources is a must.
Is the city doing enough to attract affordable and life-cycle housing?
I don't believe so. The majority of housing developments going up are well priced single-family homes. I would advocate for more affordable housing. With the growth Cottage Grove is seeing, both commercially and residentially, we must make sure all residents are being represented. I plan to have strong engagement with our elders, our youth and those in our population that haven't been historically represented at or within city government. We need jobs in our community that support real liveable wage jobs.
