Two teams from New Life Academy took first place in a competition that was modeled on the television series "Shark Tank."

Eight teams participated in the contest, which took place at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. The teams, representing four private schools across the Twin Cities, pitched their business concept to a panel of judges, or "sharks," in January.

New Life Academy team Re-fitted (Alex Gibson and Judah Kupka) and Complete Backpack (Justin DeBoer, Riley Grohn and Cooper Falteisek) took first and second place, respectively, in the competition.

The five are enrolled in the new Entrepreneurship and Business Consulting class at New Life Academy.
