Oltman Middle School grand opening
COTTAGE GROVE — The public got a gander at the new Oltman Middle School at the Sept. 23 grand opening.
A ceremony took place in the school's 400-seat theater, where South Washington County School Board chair Tracy Brunnette thanked the public for supporting the tax levy that paid for the $72 million school. "Your support has given us an amazing school," she said.
Oltman Principal Joni Hagebock took the audience on a virtual tour of the building and its unique features.
Superintendent Keith Jacobus thanked building supervisor Mike Vogel, interim director of facilities and construction management, for his help shepherding the ambitious project to its completion.
"I'm just very, very grateful that we were able to get it open on time and under budget," Vogel said before the ceremony. "We had our share of challenges."
