Discovery Community Church hosted the World Vision Walk for Water 6K on May 4 in St. Paul Park to raise money for Water Mission.

A global charitable organization, Water Mission encourages communities around the country to host their own races every spring. Donations are used to dig wells and provide sanitation in developing countries.

Participants carry water from start to finish in order to experience the daily plight of those who live without running water. According to the Water Mission website, millions of women and children around the world walk an average of 3.5 miles every day to collect water that's not safe.

Louise Allen, wife of Pastor Wayne Allen, said they raised $2,390.
