SOUTH WASHINGTON COUNTY — Hundreds of hot rods finally emerged from hibernation at two local car shows.

On April 25, the St. Paul Park-Newport Lions held the first of their Car Show Thursdays at Broadway Avenue and 5th Street. The weekly gatherings run from 5 p.m.-dusk through Sept. 27, weather permitting.

The Culver's Car Show also opened last week in the parking lot of Culver's restaurant in Cottage Grove. It runs Wednesday evenings 5-9 p.m. through the summer.

Visitors to both events are encouraged to bring their rides, a lawn chair and some good stories. Families and walk-ins are welcome. For more information on the Car Show Thursdays, visit For the Culver's Car Show, visit So 61 CRUZRS Facebook page.
