A 15-year-old Park High School student was arrested for assault and other charges for allegedly shoving, punching and biting school staff who had responded to a possible gang-related fight last week.
A 45-year-old Cottage Grove man dodged his own arrest by escaping through a window and then eluding police dogs and a helicopter search. Police were called shortly before 7 p.m. Feb. 23 to the 7800 block of Hemingway Avenue on a report of an unwanted man at a home. He was there in violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order, police said.

Last year, black high school students in District 833 graduated at nearly the same rate as their white classmates, evidence of an achievement gap closure in a year that also saw the district’s highest overall graduation rate of 92.6 percent. A St. Paul Park man who police say was found hiding in a cemetery after a high-speed pursuit and two-hour search is charged with a pair of felonies. Brandon Lee Martinez, 26, is charged with receiving stolen property and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in Washington County District Court. The charges stem from a Jan. 27 traffic stop that turned into a high-speed chase from St. Paul Park to Woodbury. According to the criminal complaint:

A Cottage Grove woman allegedly broke into her ex-boyfriend’s home, changed clothes and stole money and a gift card. Stephanie Jean Thomas, 35, is charged in Washington County District Court with second-degree burglary and fifth-degree methamphetamine possession in connection with a Feb. 6 incident.
A Maplewood man with four prior drunken driving convictions is charged again after police say he was driving drunk at over 100 mph on Highway 61 in Newport. Carl Larenzo Harris, 39, is charged with felony drunken driving in Washington County District Court in connection with the Jan. 29 traffic stop. He also faces a second felony drunken driving charge as a result of his blood-alcohol concentration. Prosecutors also charged Harris with felony fifth-degree possession of cocaine.
