On the road with pep band... well... at the arena with pep band. On Friday, January 10, the pep band played at the girls hockey game. Unfortunately, they had a rough defeat, 1-3, but they had full support from their pep band and wonderful fans. Members of pep band say that they keep fans about as excited as the game itself. Mr. Andy Nelson, the band director, agrees saying, "It's an important tradition and kids work hard to make it happen." Nelson is quite proud of the band's success. He states, "pep band creates energy at the games.
Winter is here in full swing, and for high schoolers, it doesn't just mean cold weather and bad roads. This is the time of year where many students are starting to feel the stress of the school year. The few days that we get to enjoy off of school during dismal season are looked forward to with great anticipation and relief. Unfortunately, due to the strike that the education community experienced this year, many days scheduled as breaks were re-entered into the school calendar.

Ehlre-Klande Christine Diana Ehler of Owatonna, Minn., and Ryan Joshua Klande of Cannon Falls were married Sept. 7, 2002, at the Shades of Sherwood Campgrounds, Zumbrota, with the Rev. David Wall officiating. She is the daughter of Richard and Theresa Ehler of Owatonna. He is the son of Kim and Serena Klande of North Branch, Minn., and James and Debra Pepin of Red Wing. Maid of honor was Kelly Mullenbach of Owatonna. Bridesmaids were Katie Ehler of Owatonna and Becky Ehler of Orlando, Fla., both sisters of the bride.
CORRECTION School Board A story in Wednesday's paper incorrectly reported that most Red Wing students have a study hall during the course of their seven-period daily class schedule. Red Wing Principal Larry Sonju said Thursday that 673 of the 1,098 students at Red Wing High School have seven classes. We're sorry for the error.
