Gerald C. Pechacek, 82, Ellsworth, died Tuesday at Ellsworth Care Center. He was born July 15, 1920, in Beldenville to Carl and Nona (Teausaw) Pechacek. He farmed for 40 years. He worked for Jacques Seeds Co., the town of Trimbelle, and Pierce County Highway Department. He retired from Armours Meat Co. Then they traveled throughout the United States. He donated many gallons of blood over the years and ushered for more than 50 years at First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth. He enjoyed fishing and reading. He served in the U.S.
Agnes Marian Sorkil, 87, Zumbrota, died Wednesday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born May 30, 1915, in Roscoe to Carl and Ida (Berg) Haugen. She attended Bringold County School District 82. On July 2, 1942, she married Thorvald Sorkil in Zumbrota. They farmed near Zumbrota for 50 years. He died Dec. 5, 1992. She moved to the Zumbrota Towers in 1996.

Roseanne Grosso was elected vice chairwoman of the Goodhue County Public Health Board at Tuesday's meeting, one week after she was bypassed for a similar post on the County Board. Bob Noah, Kenyon, was elected Public Health chairman. Grosso, who represents Welch Township and the western half of Red Wing, expressed her gratitude, and asked why she was selected for a vice chairman this time but not last week.
