Patrick Johnson has been the South Washington County Bulletin’s sports editor since 2008. He reports on and oversees coverage of high school and amateur sports in south Washington County and Woodbury. Prior to joining the Bulletin, Johnson worked for other Twin Cities suburban newspapers. He is a University of Minnesota graduate.

Forest Lake is regarded as one of the top teams in the Suburban East Conference this season. On Friday, Dec. 20, the East Ridge girls basketball team found out why.
East Ridge beat Forest Lake 69-46 in a Suburban East Conference game on Friday, Dec. 20, at East Ridge High School and is now riding a six-game win streak.

The East Ridge boys basketball team beat intra-district rival Park 75-29 on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Park High School in Cottage Grove.

Park High School Activities Director Phil Kuemmel said he hopes to move forward after the school’s head gymnastics coach, Terry Hardy, was placed on a paid leave of absence after being criminally cited for tattooing a minor without written parental consent.
