Heavy snowfall reduced visibility and caused poor driving conditions Sunday throughout south Washington County, including along 80th Street in Cottage Grove. The National Weather Service forecast called for another 1 to 3 inches of snow during the day Monday.

A National Weather Service map shows remaining snow depth across the Upper Midwest. In most areas, snow is much deeper than normal. Some snow has melted in recent weeks, but total snowfall is 60 inches in some areas, normally the entire winter's total.

Tom Stangl, and his children, Abbie and Noah, were the only ones skating on the Heritage Park rink in St. Paul Park on Saturday afternoon because of the cold weather. Abbie, working on her slap shot, was bundled up to the point that only her eyes could be seen. She was practicing with a tennis ball instead of a hockey puck.

Myles and Ashley Ross screamed with glee as they slid down one of the hills at Highlands' Park on Tuesday afternoon on a new sled. The hills in the park were full of sliders over the two days with temperatures around 30 degrees, but rain and freezing rain later in the week put a damper on outdoor activities.
