Junior pitcher Michaela Anderson is one of two starters back with the Raptors this spring. Last year she pitched in 12 games last year, going 4-7 with a 3.13 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 69 1/3 innings.

A year ago, the New Life Academy softball team celebrated a seventh straight trip to the state tournament, beating Minneapolis Washburn 5-3 for the Section 4A championship. This year, New Life is looking to make it eight in a row, which would tie Winona Cotter for the most consecutive state tournament appearances in state history.

The Cottage Grove Athletic Association U12 softball Green team won the Minnesota Metro Fastpitch League fall ball state championship last week in the Tier 1 bracket of the eight-tier tournament, earning the right to call themselves the best U12 softball team in the state.
