Last year, while being pictured with a third-straight state championship trophy, New Life Academy head coach Mick Ramey boldly flashed four fingers -- and a large grin -- before his hand was swatted down by outfielder Lauren Anders and pitcher Rebekah Schmidt, who were obviously more superstitious than their coach.

The New Life Academy seventh-grade boys basketball team won the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) Grade State Basketball Tournament in the AAAAA division, recently. The team finished the season with a 26-6 record. New Life Academy came together recently to help its beloved friend and German teacher Frau Cheri Thomas in her battle against cancer. As part of the "Fight for Frau," the New Life Academy boys basketball team held a fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 11, during the Eagles home game against Trinity.
