Girls Swimming and Diving: Park tops White Bear Lake
Park 97, White Bear Lake 88
Even though the Park Wolfpack finished first in five of the 12 events on Thursday night, they were still able to come out with the victory due to consistency of all three swimmers or teams in each event.
Park started off the night with a one-two finish in the 200-yard medley relay with the top team consisting of Paige Hill, Megan Garofalo, Tiana Cachuela and Chloe McNearney and a time of 2:10.36.
Cachuela came back as an individual and took the top spot in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:27.29.
Then, the Wolfpack stayed together to finish two-three-four in the 200-yard freestyle and three-four-five in the 50-yard freestyle.
Park had one diver, Kennedy Blaschko, who finished third with a score of 164.90. The Wolfpack went back to the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly as Cachuela finished with a time of 1:02.88.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Hill finished with a 1:02.44 time and a second-place finish in that event. Jenna Gutterman finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a 6:12.11 time, but Park finished one-two-three in that event to give the Wolfpack 13 points from that event.
Hill came back in the 100-yard backstroke to earn a first-place spot with a 1:13.19 time. In the last event of the night, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Park had its teams finish in second, third and fifth place to claim the victory over White Bear Lake.
The second-place team in that event included Alyssa Larson, Lauren Glenna, Hill and Cachuela.
Park will head to Cretin-Derham Hall on Thursday, September 13, to try and expand that winning streak.
