National Signing Day at Park

Hanna Mortenson

Five Park High School students wrapped up the college recruiting process with a national letter of intent signing ceremony Wednesday.

Football players Brandon Alt and Brendan Beaulieu are both headed to Bemidji State next season along with soccer player Maggie Hallock. Softball player Hanna Mortenson and cross-country runner Scott Burazin signed with Concordia University in St. Paul.

Brandon Alt - Football - Bemidji State

Q: Why did you choose Bemidji?

A: "First of all the coaches, I liked how they treated me during the recruiting process and when I went to visit. The football team looked like they could be a family like my team here at Park."

Q: What are you looking forward to most?

A: "I look forward to getting up there, learning the offense and getting my mind and body ready for the season."

Brendan Beaulieu - Football - Bemidji State

Q: Why did you choose Bemidji?

A: "They have what I want to do academically (engineering). I thought I could fit in well with the team and the school."

Q: What are you looking forward to most?

A: "I'm looking forward to putting on the pads, meeting new people and having a new football family."

Scott Burazin - Cross-Country - Concordia St. Paul

Q: Why did you choose Concordia?

A: "Academically they are the right fit for me (majoring in sports management), and they're giving me the opportunity to keep doing what I love."

Q: What are you looking forward to most?

A: "I look forward to running, joining the team and being a part of a great group of guys."

***The signing period for runners is actually in April when Park is on Spring Break, so he will officially sign then.

Hanna Mortenson - Softball - Concordia St. Paul

Q: Why did you choose Concordia?

A: "I had played with the (Concordia's) coach over the summer and like how he ran the team and practices."

Q: What are you looking forward to most?

A: "I'm looking forward to playing softball and making friends."

***Hanna officially signed back in November but Concordia wanted to honor her with the others.

Maggie Hallock - Soccer - Bemidji State

Q: Why did you choose Bemidji?

A: "I loved the campus, and I think it fits me perfectly because I love the outdoors and the campus is on a lake. Plus I love the coaches already, and I'm not even on the team yet."

Q: What are you looking forward to most?

A: "I'm looking forward to playing a lot of soccer, living the college life and making friends."
