Park gymnastics: Raymond, Thrush to share head coaching duties

Park didn’t have to go too far to find a new head coach – or two.

Former Park gymnasts and assistant coaches Lindsey Raymond and Kristen Thrush have been hired as co-head coaches for the Park gymnastics team. Both filled the same role on an interim basis this past season after Park coach Terry Hardy was released from the job after being criminally cited for tattooing a minor without written parental consent.

“Krissie and Lindsey did a great job this past season stepping in and taking on the head coaching responsibilities,” Park Activities Director Phil Kuemmel said. “They proved that they are ready to take over and lead this program. I am confident in their abilities to continue the high level of success that we have had in our gymnastics program.”

Both Raymond and Thrush joined Park as assistant coaches in the program since 2010 and have also coached in the district’s Community Education Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA) youth program.

At Park, Raymond was an All-State competitor as a sophomore in 2002 and was a member of the Wolfpack’s third-place team in 2002-03. Thrush was also a standout all-arounder for Park in the 03-04 season when Park won its state championship title.
