East Ridge girls basketball: Raptors end season on win streak, garner No. 4 seed in section

The East Ridge girls basketball team ended the regular season on a four-game winning streak and earned the No. 4 seed in the Section 3AAAA tournament.

East Ridge won 61-46 at Hastings on Tuesday, Feb. 25, and 68-60 at Mounds View on Friday to end the regular season.

East Ridge finished the regular season 19-7 overall and 11-7 in the Suburban East Conference, which was good for sixth place in the 10-team SEC. Park and White Bear Lake shared the conference title with matching 15-3 records.

East Ridge jumped out to a 31-16 lead in the win at Hastings (2-23; 1-17 SEC) then cruised to the 15-point win. Raptors’ senior guard Jamie Swanson scored a game-high 26 points. Fellow senior forward Dai Mixson scored 13 points for East Ridge.

In the win over Mounds View (9-17; 4-14 SEC), East Ridge led 45-28 at the half, then hung on for the victory.

Swanson led the way with a game-high 22 points, Mixson scored 20 points and freshman center Mariah Sexe netted 14 points.

East Ridge plays host to fifth-seeded Rosemount (13-13) on Wednesday, March 5, at The Perch in Woodbury in the playoff opener. A win would pit the Raptors against either top-ranked and top-seeded Eastview (25-1) or eighth-seeded Henry Sibley (5-21).
