East Ridge gymnastics: Raptors improve to 7-1 in Suburban East

Though slowed by injuries, the East Ridge gymnastics team continued to roll in the Suburban East Conference, defeating Forest Lake 142.075 to 136.175 on Thursday, Jan. 30, at East Ridge High School.

It was the seventh-straight dual meet win for East Ridge, which is ranked 10th in Class AA, and improved the Raptors to 7-1 on the year in the Suburban East Conference.

East Ridge sophomore standout Wren Anderson returned to the Raptors’ lineup off an injury to lead the way with a meet-best 37.25 in the all-around. Anderson scored first place in the floor exercise with a 9.525, in the vault with a 9.475, in the bars with a 9.2 and took second in the beam with a 9.05. 

Fellow sophomore Megan Trollen won the beam with a 9.55 and finished second in the all-around with a 37.225. Trollen also took second in the vault with a 9.25, in the bars with a 9.075 and in the floor exercise with a 9.35. 

East Ridge sophomore Karina Joiner scored highly in the vault with a 9.125 and in the floor exercise with an 8.975 and sophomore Taryn Johnson scored a 9.15 in the vault, an 8.65 in the floor exercise, an 8.25 in the bars and an all-around score of 33.875. 

Next, the Raptors take on Mounds View on Feb. 6. The Section 3AA Tournament will be held on Feb. 14 at Eagan High School. Rosemount (144.425) is the top-ranked team in the section at fifth, followed by East Ridge (141.433) at 10th.
