Park boys basketball: Wolfpack’s losing skid hits nine

The Park boys basketball team will probably be happy when January is over.

The Wolfpack have yet to win in the month of January and are currently riding a six-game losing streak. Park’s last win was Dec. 28 against South St. Paul.

Most recently, Park got roughed up by Suburban East Conference rival Woodbury, 89-44, on Tuesday, Jan. 24, in Cottage Grove before falling 56-45 to Hastings at home on Friday.

Last year, Park snapped a long conference losing streak by beating Hastings. However, the Raiders (4-14; 2-9 SEC) won both matchups this year. Individual statistics from the game were not made available.

Against Woodbury, the Royals (12-7; 8-3 SEC) jumped out to a 54-22 lead at the half then cruised to the 45-point win.

Eleven different players scored for Park (3-14; 0-10 SEC) in the game. Senior Jordan Pinnix led the way with a team-high 11 points.

Woodbury senior sharpshooter Matt Ambriz led all scorers with 31 points.

Next, Park is at Roseville (9-8; 7-3 SEC) on Thursday, Jan. 30.
