East Ridge girls basketball: Raptors burn Blaze, improve to 5-3 overall

The East Ridge girls basketball team bounced back from a 55-39 Suburban East Conference loss to White Bear Lake Thursday with a 51-38 non-conference win over Burnsville on the road Friday.

East Ridge (5-3; 1-3 SEC) opened up a 23-18 lead in the first half against Burnsville (4-7), then outscored the Blaze 28-20 in the second half on the way to the 13-point win.

Freshman center Mariah Sexe led the Raptors with a team-high 16 points in the win. East Ridge senior shooting guard Jamie Swanson netted 15 points and senior Dai Mixson chipped in eight points.

Prior to the win, East Ridge fell to White Bear on the road.

The Bears (12-0; 4-0 SEC) jumped out to a 29-18 first-half lead then held off the Raptors in the second half for the win. Mixson led East Ridge with a game-high 17 points in loss.

East Ridge hosted Cretin-Derham Hall (7-5; 3-2 SEC) on Tuesday after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the Raptors are at Stillwater (6-7; 2-3 SEC) on Friday.
