Park girls hockey: Wolfpack falls 3-0 to No. 14 Roseville

Park could not sneak up on No. 14 Roseville a second time around in a 3-0 loss on Friday, Jan. 10.

Earlier in the season, the Wolfpack had a 1-0 lead through two periods before the Raiders rallied with three goals in the third period on No. 26. This time, the Raiders went to work right away with two goals in the first period.

Wolfpack goalie Paige Press stopped 23 shots in the game and had an .885 save percentage, and the defense killed six Raiders power plays. The Wolfpack offense mustered only 14 shots, and 13 of them came in the first period. In addition, the Wolfpack went 0-5 on the power play.

The Wolfpack (3-13-2, 1-8-2 Suburban East) return to action this week with Hastings (8-9-1, 4-6-1 SEC) on Saturday. They played to a 1-1 tie on Dec. 7.

Another tie rematch comes up for the Wolfpack on Tuesday, Jan. 21, when they take on White Bear Lake (7-8-3, 2-6-3 SEC). Those two tied 1-1 on Dec. 10.

The postponed Wolfpack game with Woodbury (6-11-1, 1-9-1) from Tuesday, Jan. 7 due to record cold temps has not been rescheduled yet. The Wolfpack came up short, 4-3, in a loss to the Royals in their first meeting on Nov. 23.

Despite the postponement, the Wolfpack still had a busy week with Cottage Grove Girls Hockey Day on Saturday, Jan. 11. The varsity players helped with the many activities of the day with the youth games and the free skate in the afternoon.
