East Ridge girls hockey: Raptors skate to 0-0 tie with Royals

District 833 and Suburban East Conference rivals Woodbury and East Ridge skated to a 0-0 tie on Friday, Jan. 10.

“It was a great game with a lot of action,” Royals coach Chris Lepper said. “That is what a rivalry game should be like.”

Kaelan Geisser stopped 40 shots in goal for the Royals to earn the shut out. The Royals defense stuck to their game plan and helped her out especially on the penalty kill, going 4-4. In addition, the Royals overcame a 39-16 shot differential to keep the game tied throughout.

“We are hoping this game will be a springboard to the last half of the season and propel the Royals to more wins,” Lepper said.

The Royals (6-11-1, 1-9-1 SEC) earned their first tie of the season, and they put out a much stronger showing against the Raptors (11-6-1, 5-5-1 SEC) compared to their first meeting, a 9-2 Raptors rout.
