Park boys hockey: Wolfpack on the hunt for first win

Last year being in Park’s rearview mirror may come as a welcome thing.

The Wolfpack boys hockey team fell to 0-7 on the year before the Christmas break, and they played a strong lineup of teams at the Rochester Kiwanis Tournament on Dec. 26-28.

“I’m not real thrilled with our consistency in effort or execution,” Wolfpack coach Jay Moser said. “I can live with the execution, but the intensity needs to be much more consistent.”

The struggles simply mounted when they top Suburban East Conference teams in three-straight games on Dec. 14-21. Losses to Cretin-Derham Hall, Roseville and White Bear Lake all came by four or more goals.

Hudson, Wis., handed the Wolfpack a 5-0 loss in opening the Rochester tournament on Dec. 26. It dropped the Wolfpack record to 0-8.

Returning to SEC play on Saturday, the Wolfpack face a fellow SEC bottom dweller against Hastings (4-6-1, 1-4-1 SEC).

Eric Stoffel and Nick Lucas lead the Wolfpack in scoring with seven points apiece.
