Park girls swimming & diving: Wolfpack swimmers ready for sections

Park lost its final girls swimming and diving meet of the regular season 105-76 to Hastings Oct. 24 in Hastings.

The Raiders won six events at the meet.

“I saw quite a few time drops and improvements,” Wolfpack head coach Amanda Johnson said. “They just looked a little tougher than the beginning of the year which is what we look for.”

Up next for Park is the Section 3AA meet Wednesday at Richfield Middle School. Johnson said she is hoping to place several swimmers in the top 16 at the meet.

Johnson pointed seventh-grader Tiana Cachuela and Madeline McNearney as two swimmers she sees having big meets.

Cachuela, who earned all-conference honors this season, will swim the 200-yard individual medley while McNearney will swim the 100 backstroke.

Cachuela, McNearney, Peyton Adams and Hannah Munson will compete for the Wolfpack in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays at the section meet.

“I’m just looking forward to how they’re going to drop and the times they’re going to have coming out of it,” Johnson said.
