Park cross country: Bonneson earns all-conference honors for Wolfpack
Park senior runner Evan Bonneson earned all-conference honors, leading the way for the Wolfpack boys cross country team at the Suburban East Conference championship meet on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Stacy.
Bonneson took 10th place at the meet with a time of 16 minutes, 16 seconds in the 5 kilometer race. All-Conference goes to the top 20 overall finishers, with the next 10 being awarded All-Conference honorable mention.
Overall, Park finished in 10th place in the 10-team meet with 246 place points. Stillwater won the meet with its top five runners taking the top five spots at the meet, totaling just 34 points. Mounds View placed three of its runners in the top 10 for second place (65 points).
For Park, after Bonneson, junior Opiew Omot was the second Wolfpack runner across the finish line, taking 55th with a time of 17:57. Senior Kyle Mohr took 59th with a time of 18:08, freshman Scott Burazin was 60th with a time of 18:13 and junior Ryan Tolkinen took 62nd with a time of 18:21 to round out Park’s top five.
The Park girls took eighth place overall at the meet with 217 place points. Junior Rebekah Schulte led the way for the Wolfpack, taking 21st place overall with a time of 15:20 in the 4 kilometer race, to earn all-conference honorable mention.
Sophomore Cameron Anderson was the next Wolfpack runner across the finish line, placing 36th overall with a time of 15:55. Sophomores Maddyson Jeske and Taylor Rumpca took 44th and 54th, respectively, with times of 16:21 and 17:02 and junior Bailey Aasen rounded out Park’s top five, taking 62nd with a time of 17:16.
The East Ridge girls won a fourth straight conference championship with 31 points and had six runners place in the top 13. Forest Lake placed second with 69 points and Roseville took third with 78 points.
Next, Park will compete in the Section 3AA race on Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Valleywood Golf Course in Apple Valley. At sections, the top two teams and the top 10 individual runners in the boys and girls race earn trips to the Class AA state meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
