Park girls soccer: Wolfpack win one, lose one, garner fifth seed in Section 3AA tourney

The Park girls soccer team split its last two games of the regular season. In a pair of Suburban East Conference contests, the Wolfpack won their final home game of the year, 3-0, over Roseville on Tuesday, before falling to Stillwater 1-0 on the road Thursday.

The Wolfpack finished the year 11-4 overall and were 5-4 in the SEC, good for fifth place in the league standings.

Three different players scored goals for Park in the win over Roseville (4-12; 1-8 SEC). Seniors Temi Ogunrinde, Alissa Troje and Katelyn Floysand each netted goals, while senior Jenna Swenson tallied an assist. Junior goalie Emily Lange made two saves in the nets for the shutout.

Ogunrinde finished the year with a team-best 10 goals.

The loss to Stillwater (7-7-2; 3-5-1 SEC) was just the third time Park has been shut out this season.

Park was dealt the fifth seed in the Section 3AA tournament. The Wolfpack face fourth-seeded Rosemount (9-5-2; 3-4-2 South Suburban Conference) on Tuesday, Oct. 8 on the road. A win over the Irish would pit Park against either No. 1 seed Burnsville (13-0-3; 7-0-2 SSC) or eighth-seeded Hastings (2-14; 0-9 SEC) on Thursday.

Park reached the section championship game last season before being edged by Eastview in a shootout.

This year’s playoffs won’t be easy, with three teams ranked in the top 10 in the state – according to the most recent coaches poll - in Section 3AA. Burnsville is ranked No. 2 in Class AA, Eastview is fourth and Eagan is seventh. Park is also ranked, coming in at 12th.
