Park girls soccer: Wolfpack wallop Hastings to end three-game slide

The Park girls soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-0 pounding of Suburban East Conference foe Hastings on Thursday, Sept. 26.

Park (10-3; 4-3 SEC) lost 1-0 to Cretin-Derham Hall on Tuesday for its third loss in a row. The Wolfpack had previously fallen to Mounds View 4-2 and White Bear Lake 1-0, respectively, after starting the season a perfect 9-0.

However, Park closed the month of September with a lopsided five-goal win at Hastings (2-12; 0-7 SEC). The win moved the Wolfpack – which slipped to 11th in the latest Class AA Minnesota State High School League Coaches Association poll – into fourth in the conference standings.

Park sophomore Ciara Gregory led the Wolfpack’s offense with two goals. Fellow sophomore Mariah Troje and junior Haley Mead each netted one goal and junior Carlie Williams had a goal and an assist. Park junior goalie Emily Lange made five saves for the shutout victory.

Park played host to Roseville (3-10; 1-6 SEC) in the final regular-season home game on Tuesday, Oct. 1, after the Bulletin went to press. Next, Park closes the regular season at Stillwater (6-7; 2-5 SEC) on Thursday.
