Pure madness: Park football team kicks off season with annual midnight practice, pep rally
For the third-straight year, the Park football team got busy as soon as it could.
Park kicked off the 2012-13 season with a pep rally and "Midnight Madness" practice at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12 — the opening day of high school practice across Minnesota — under the lights of Park High School's Wolfpack Stadium.
Two years ago, shortly after getting the job as Park head coach, Darin Glazier began the tradition of starting the season just after midnight — something similar to NCAA men's basketball's Midnight Madness.
Prior to the hour-long season-opening practice in Cottage Grove, Park hosted a pep rally in the high school gymnasium, with the team, fellow students, fans, parents and the Park marching band and cheerleaders.
