New Life Academy girls basketball: Eagles unable to record first win

The New Life Academy girls basketball dropped four games over a 10 day span and is still looking for its first win of the 2012-13 season.

On Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27 and 28, the Eagles (0-10; 0-2 MCAA) participated in the Fridley Tiger Holiday Tournament, taking on Minneapolis Roosevelt on Thursday and Minneapolis Southwest on Friday.

Against Roosevelt, the Eagles lost 43-57. Natalie Hager led New Life in scoring with 15 points. Emily Bouldan was next in line with 12. Valerie Hohol led the team with 8 rebounds.

On Friday against Southwest, New Life lost 46-68 after being behind at halftime 17-38. Abby Thor led the Eagles in scoring with 11 points, with Hager and Molly Saum each scoring 10. Hohol again led all rebounders with 13. On Thursday, Jan. 3rd, the Eagles took on Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity at LP/HT and lost 40-66. At halftime, the Eagles were trailing 17-39.

Hohol led NLA in scoring with 13, and Thor and Maddy Steele each scored 8. Saum led the Eagles with 10 rebounds, while Hohol recorded 7.

On Saturday, Jan. 5, New Life battled at Barnum High School in a scoring bonanza, but New Life was on the lower end at the end again, losing 100-83. No stats were available at the time of publication.

The Eagles were at Trinity High School in Eagan on Tuesday, Jan. 8, after the Bulletin went to press. Next, NLA hosts Southwest Christian at home on Friday, Jan. 11.
