Eagles' offensive production grows
The New Life Academy girls' soccer team did not score a goal in its first three games of the season in late August.
A month later, goal scoring has been much easier for the Eagles. New Life Academy bounced back from a 4-0 loss at St. Paul Academy on Wednesday, Sept. 20, to win a 6-0 game at home against Legacy Christian on Thursday, Sept. 21. New Life Academy also lost 4-2 at Simley on Saturday, Sept. 23.
But head coach Sam Mann said the girls have improved their chemistry on the field and the result has been more offense.
"They figured some things out in practice and got a lot better," Mann said. "Just creativity and going for the ball helps out a lot."
Among the goal scorers for New Life Academy against Legacy Christian were Abby Kuphal, Claire Maple, Sophia Sosa and Emma Lassen.
"It's good to have everyone chipping in," Mann said.
New Life Academy holds a 5-5-1 record heading into this week, including 3-1 in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association. The Eagles are scheduled to play Trinity at home on Thursday, Sept. 28, and Spectrum on Saturday, Sept. 30.
