Legion Baseball: St. Paul Park splits doubleheader with Red Wing

The St. Paul Park Post 98 Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Red Wing on the road July 7.

Red Wing scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the first game 7-5, but Austin Strantz pitched a complete game one-hitter in a 4-0 win in the second contest. Strantz pitched seven innings with one hit, one walk and 12 strikeouts allowed in the victory. Head coach Matt Doornink said Strantz had struggled this year with fastball location. But that was not a problem against Red Wing, as he located pitches and had a breaking ball that Red Wing could not handle.

Nick Munson pitched 5 1/3 innings in game one, allowing eight hits but only one earned run.

Tanner Strantz was 2-for-3 in the first game, and Dallas Schauer drove in two RBI. Nate Larson led with two hits in the night's second game, and Nick Thorson drove in two RBI.
