Cottage Grove basketball registrations are open now

Wolfpack basketball

As the summer sports season winds down it's time to start planning for the fall and winter. Registration is now open for the 2013-14 Cottage Grove Athletic Association Youth Basketball programs. The programs focus on skill development, teamwork and basketball knowledge. There are programs and teams for all ages and skill levels, both recreational and competitive. The CGAA's goal is to develop smart, skilled, hard-working and team-oriented players.

The CGAA is offering four basketball programs for the 2013-2014 season: The Little Dribblers Basketball Clinic (Pre-K/Kindergarten); Junior Wolfpack (grades 1-2); In-House (boys grades 3-6 and girls grades 3-8) and Traveling (grades 3-8).

The Little Dribblers Basketball Clinic is an introductory to basketball for pre-school and Kindergarten aged boys and girls. The players will learn the basic fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, and passing. The clinic is approximately 12 sessions and runs from late October through the end of December. The clinic will meet twice a week at Grey Cloud Elementary School on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The first and second grade Junior Wolfpack In-House Basketball League builds on what the players learned in the Little Dribblers Basketball Clinic by offering real game experience. The players will meet twice per week, with one night being a clinic-style practice setting and the other night the players will be playing games. This league runs from the first week of November through the end of January and meets at Grey Cloud Elementary School on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The CGAA In-House basketball program includes 10-12 league games played and a season ending league tournament played on Saturdays. Teams have two practices per week on weeknights spread over the season which starts in November and ends in February.

The CGAA traveling basketball program includes 8-11 tournaments and two practices per week spread over the season that starts in early October and ends in mid- March. Tryouts will occur September 21-26 (specific days/times are listed at
