Park softball: Whoa ... Galloway, Wolfpack upset No. 1 Lakeville North

Park junior Amber Galloway led the Wolfpack to a 4-1 win over No. 1-ranked Lakeville North on Tuesday in the second round of the Section 3AAA tournament.

The Park softball team pulled off one of the biggest wins of the year on Tuesday.

The ninth-seeded Wolfpack upset top-seeded Lakeville South - the No. 1-ranked team in the state - 4-1 in the second round of the Section 3AAA tournament at Dred Scott Field in Burnsville.

Park (9-7) will take on fifth-seed Lakeville South in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at Dred Scott Field at 6 p.m. with the winner moving onto the semifinals of the double-elimination tournament on Friday.

In the win over the top-ranked Panthers (18-3) Park scored a run in the first, second and third innings to take a 3-0 lead and rode junior starting pitcher Amber Galloway to the win.

At the plate, senior Mary Turitto led the way, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. Also, junior Paige Hill was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

"Galloway played incredible and the team just played incredible," Park head coach Bob Loshek said.

Lakeville North is still alive and will face Burnsville today in the play-back bracket.
