Park boys tennis: Wolfpack earns pair of sweeps

The Park boys tennis team swept non-conference foes Richfield and Farmington 7-0 last week in addition to losing a close 4-3 match to Suburban East Conference opponent Forest Lake to improve to 3-2 on the season overall.

In the loss to Forest Lake, Charlie Link, Pele Le and Alec Strauss provided big straight-set wins at second, third and fourth singles, respectively. All three players went 3-0 on the week. Link beat Richfield 6-0, 6-0, Forest Lake 6-0, 6-1 and Farmington 6-4, 6-4. Le beat Richfield 6-6, 6-2, Forest Lake 6-1, 6-2 and Farmington 6-2, 6-0 and Strauss beat Richfield 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 and Farmington 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 (super tiebreaker).

The match against Forest Lake came down to No. 1 doubles, where David Link and Lucas Lindstrom battled in a three-set loss, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3.

"They played great but just came up short in the third set," Park head coach Tony Townsend said.

Park (3-2; 0-2 SEC) has a busy week ahead. The Wolfpack took on Mounds View on Tuesday, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the team faces East Ridge on Wednesday, Roseville on Thursday and South St. Paul on Friday.

"We are continuing to improve as a team and are very optimistic for the second half of the season," Townsend said.
