Park football: Mounds View rolls Wolfpack in finale; Prior Lake up next

Park junior running back David Giadyu and the Wolfpack hit a wall against Mounds View in the regular season finale. The Mustangs limited the Wolfpack to 16 total yards in a 40-0 loss.

Park's regular season came to a close Wednesday with a 40-0 loss to sixth-ranked Suburban East Conference foe Mounds View in Mounds View.

The Mustangs (7-1, 7-1 SEC) rolled up 444 yards of total offense against the Wolfpack (1-7, 1-7 SEC) for their third consecutive win after losing to Stillwater 17-14 Sept. 28.

For Mounds View, Mitch Fredrickson threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns and Austin Smestad had 86 yards receiving and two touchdowns to go along with 63 yards rushing. Jeremy Redmond had 69 yards rushing and a touchdown as Mounds View rolled past Park.

The Mustangs went up 7-0 in the first quarter when Fredrickson found Smestad for a 60-yard touchdown and scored two more times in the second quarter to build a 19-0 halftime lead.

Smestad scored on a 15-yard run and Redmond hauled in a 47 yard pass for Mounds View as it kept the Wolfpack scoreless in the first half.

The Mustangs added two touchdowns in the third quarter when Redmond scored from 6 yards out and Matt Hunt ran in for an 8-yard touchdown. Michael Hoffman added a 5-yard fourth-quarter touchdown.

Park played without starting quarterback Sam Domeier, who was injured, along with starting tailback Dylan Smallidge, who has been out of the lineup for the past few weeks. The Wolfpack finished with 18 yards rushing and minus-2 yards passing against Mounds View's defense - which finished No. 1 in the SEC, allowing 193.8 yards per game.

The Wolfpack will face ninth-ranked Prior Lake Friday in Prior Lake to begin the section playoffs.
