2011 story: Park gymnastics: Tulloch, Deephouse lead 'Pack to 2-0
Behind solid all-around performances from juniors Rachel Deephouse and Kasondra Tulloch, the Park gymnastics team improved to 2-0 on the year with an easy 141.6 to 129.425 win over White Bear Lake in the Suburban East Conference on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Park High School.
Coming off a third-place finish in last year's state meet, in front of a packed gymnastics room for Park's home opener, the Wolfpack took three of the top four places in each event against the Bears (0-2 SEC).
For Park, Tulloch took first place in the vault (9.45) and on the uneven bars (9.55) and Deephouse finished in first place in the floor exercise (9.5) to lead the way. Also, Tulloch finished in second place on the beam (9.3) and Deephouse finished second in the vault (9.4) and on the bars (9.125). Tulloch took second in the all-around with a 37.275 and Deephouse was third with a 36.425. White Bear Lake's Kellie Dougherty won the all-around contest with a 37.3, as Tulloch uncharacteristically faltered in the floor exercise (8.975) and Deephouse struggled unusually on the beam (8.4).
Additionally for Park: Junior McKay Zurn finished in third place in the floor exercise with a 9.25 and sophomore Allie Minogue finished in third place on the beam with a 9.05. Minogue was also fourth in the vault (8.75), freshman Sarah Schank took fourth place on the uneven bars (8.375) and freshman Carlee Washenberger earned fourth place on the beam (8.7).
Next, Park plays host to SEC foe Cretin-Derham Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 14, before heading to Brainerd on Saturday, Dec. 17, for the Brainerd Invitational.
