Park girls soccer: Leetz commits to Gophers

According to a release by Park head girls soccer coach Greg Juba, Park junior goalie Karalyn Leetz has made a verbal commitment to play soccer for the University of Minnesota.

According to a release by Park head girls soccer coach Greg Juba, Park junior goalie Karalyn Leetz has made a verbal commitment to play soccer for the University of Minnesota.

Leetz, a team captain and a Class 2A All-State Honorable Mention player for the Wolfpack girls this past fall, played keeper in 13 games for Park, totaling 107 saves out of 117 shots on goal for a .9145 save percentage. Leetz also had five shutouts on the season. She made a season-high 15 saves three times -- in a 1-0 win over Northfield, in a 2-1 win over Forest Lake and in a 1-1 tie with Elk River.

According to the release, Leetz, who will receive an athletic scholarship to Minnesota, will not officially sign her letter of intent until February of 2011 -- after her senior season at Park.
