Six-inch springtime snowfall does little to slow south Washington drivers

The early April snowfall dropping 6 inches on south Washington County caused over 400 crashes statewide, but only one in Cottage Grove.

The State Patrol reported 421 crashes between Monday and Tuesday evenings. Injuries were reported in 32 of them; there were no fatalities.

Over 400 other vehicles spun out.

In Cottage Grove, police were only called to one accident.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office reported one vehicle off the road in Newport April 2.

The National Weather Service reported 6.3 inches of snow fell in south Washington County April 2-3.
