Newport police reports: Hit and run; thefts
A pickup truck with an attached plow was stolen from the C&B Enterprises lot, 100 Seventh Ave., Jan. 26. There were $5,000 worth of accessories in the vehicle when it was stolen.
Alliance Auto, 2030 Hastings Ave., reported a vehicle missing off their lot Jan. 29. The office door was found open, with no signs of forced entry, and several keys were missing.
A 17-year-old Minneapolis male was cited for theft at SuperAmerica, 1624 Hastings Ave. Feb. 1 during a traffic stop. Deputies later learned the vehicle that a 20-year-old Minneapolis male was driving had been reported stolen.
Hit and run
A 35-year-old Cottage Grove man is suspected of hitting his wife's car Jan. 30 after following her from St. Paul Park into Newport. When the woman stopped her car, the man allegedly struck the rear driver side of her car with his pickup truck before speeding off. Sheriff's deputies are trying to contact the man.
A 39-year-old Ellsworth man and a 33-year-old River Falls woman are facing charges after deputies found drugs and drug paraphernalia on them during a traffic stop Feb. 1. The Ellsworth man also had warrants for theft and traffic charges. Syringes and bags with traces suspected to be methamphetamine were found under the passenger seat.
