Sheriff’s office receives gift cards for night-vision monoculars
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will use 10 $250 gift certificates donated by Thomas Rice to purchase night-vision monoculars for the office’s patrol division.
County commissioners voted to accept the gift at their Aug. 2 meeting, following a presentation from Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton.
Hutton said that the devices would help officers who have to track suspects, runaways or missing people after dark.
“We have some night vision equipment now that is rather old,” he said.
The board praised the donor for their generosity.
“It is so heartening to see citizens like this step up to the plate,” Commissioner Gary Kriesel said.
