Washington County receives grants for Red Rock, Gateway BRT projects
Washington County received two grants that will help fund preparations for the Gateway Corridor and Red Rock Corridor bus rapid transit projects.
The Washington County Board on Jan. 5 approved a $135,000 grant with the Counties Transit Improvement Board (CTIB) to fund additional activities for the Red Rock Corridor implementation plan.
The county also approved a $1.35 million CTIB grant designed to fund the remaining tasks in the Gateway Corridor’s draft environmental impact statement, and to enter the project development phase of planning.
While acting as the Washington County Regional Railroad Authority, county commissioners approved an amendment to the Red Rock Corridor contract with Kimley-Horn Associates Inc., for planning a 12-stop route for the corridor.
A board workshop on the Gateway Corridor draft environmental impact statement is scheduled for Jan. 19, with an amendment to the Kimley-Horn contract for Gateway on the agenda. Commissioners, acting as the Washington County Regional Railroad Authority, are expected to act on the amendment Jan. 26.
