St. Paul Park approves slightly higher sewer, water rates

St. Paul Park residents should expect slightly higher sewer and rates for 2014.

The City Council approved the small hike in fees during its meeting last week.

Water rates, for the first 9,000 gallons per quarter, will be a minimum of $26.78, up from $25.74. Residents using an excess of 9,000 gallons per quarter will be charged $2.43 per 1,000 gallons; excess of 25,000 gallons per quarter will charge $2.70 per 1,000 gallons.

Single family dwellings should expect to pay a minimum of $43.26 ($41.60 in 2012) per quarter for sanitary sewer services, plus $3.79 per 1,000 gallons of water used in excess of 9,000 gallons.

Multiple family dwellings and apartment buildings will be charged a minimum of $43.26 quarterly with a $3.79 per 1,000 gallons of water used in excess of 9,000 gallons. Commercial and industrial properties will be charged the same.

In addition to the rates and charges, all properties will pay a basic water service fee of $4.33 per quarter, up from $4.16 last year.

Residents ages 65 and older will still be able to apply for a 50 percent reduction in their bill if the residence uses less than 9,000 gallons of water per quarter.
