After several cloudy, rainy days, sunshine and warm weather made planting the Cottage Grove garden that much brighter.

The Pineridge Garden Club has planted the city's garden annually for the last 25 years but members shared their excitement last week about planting the garden in front of the new City Hall on Ravine Parkway.

"It's a fun experience because we get to start from scratch this year," garden club member Claudia Glass said. "It's a whole new concept."

Colorful geraniums, lilac Russian sage and the club's signature pale pink Naked Lady, among other annuals and perennials, were scattered around the garden in front of the building. Courtesy of Gerten's, all the flowers and plants were sodded and secured in woodchips.

Susan Burbank, club president, said the hard working women who share a passion for gardening makes the annual event special.

"These ladies truly make the Pineridge Garden Club what it is today," Burbank said. "This is very exciting to be able to plant the new garden in front of the new City Hall."
