South Washington County School Board approves 2014 levy
The local property tax levy dedicated to South Washington County Schools’ general fund will increase 3.1 percent next year.
The District 833 School Board on Thursday, Dec. 19, approved the final levy for 2014. The total to be levied is $55.94 million, including the general fund, Community Education, debt service and other levy categories. That includes the referendum voters approved last month.
The general fund levy, which helps to pay for basic school operations, was set at $28.56 million, up from $27.70 million in 2013. The change in the school portion of individual property owners’ tax bill will vary.
Total general fund spending is about $173 million.
The levy passed 5-0; board members Jim Gelbmann and Laurie Johnson were absent.
