11:45 p.m. update: School District 833 levies see support

Preliminary indications pointed to passage Tuesday of School District 833’s operating levy renewal and increase, even as results from one precinct had yet to be reported after 11:30 p.m.

Question 1, which called for renewal of current funding for the district to the tune of $4.9 million annually for 10 years, drew strong support. An estimated 66 percent of voters supported the ballot measure with 13 of 14 precincts reporting. Question 2, a levy increase that would raise property taxes to provide an additional $6.9 million a year, was headed toward approval with about 55 percent support with all but one precinct reporting.

The fate of Question 3, which sought $8 million for district land acquisition, remained too close to call.

School district staff were told there was a delay with the reporting of results from a combined precinct in Cottage Grove and results may not be available until midnight.

The tallies for District 833 School Board’s four four-year seat were within razor-thin margins, though the two-year seat appeared secure for Woodbury incumbent Laurie Johnson.
