St. Paul Park police reports: School bus assault; suspicious activity

Assault

Alexander David Galchutt, 30, of St. Paul Park, was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault Nov. 5 in the 1100 block of Fifth Street. Neighbors heard a woman calling for help and contacted police. Galchutt allegedly threw a woman to the ground and tried to strangle her. A 5-year-old was present at the time of the assault.

A 10-year-old St. Paul Park male was assaulted on the school bus Nov. 10 by another 10-year-old student.

A student resource officer and behavioral specialist at Oltman Middle School, 1020 Third St., stopped a possible fight between a 12-year-old male and an 11-year-old male Nov. 8. Both students were reportedly aggressive and one threw things around a classroom. Both were referred to the Youth Service Bureau.

An 8-year-old male and 11-year-old male were assaulted in Axelrod Park, 401 Pullman Ave., Nov. 16. The children described the assailants as 14- or 15-year-old males who got rough with them, threw one to the ground and put him in a chokehold.

Property damage

A Park Grove Electric truck was damaged Nov. 8, after an unknown person broke the passenger window at the business, 520 Pullman Ave.

Suspicious activity

A woman in the 1400 block of Dayton Avenue reported a man in the front yard with a flashlight Nov. 2.

A suspicious male was reported in the parking lot of Great Northern Gymnastics, 900 Third St., Nov. 14. The man was reportedly meditating without shoes in the middle of the parking lot. Police caught up with the man on his way home. He had put his shoes back on and confirmed he had been meditating.

Theft

An unknown woman took a half-filled gas can from the driveway of a home in the 1400 block of Selby Avenue Nov. 1.

A vehicle was stolen from the 1700 block of Selby Avenue Nov. 8. Neighbors reported seeing unknown people outside the home around 2 a.m.

A game-hunting trail camera was stolen from the 1400 block of Fourth Street in Grey Cloud Island Nov. 7. There are no suspects. Another camera was stolen Nov. 17, along with damage to a privacy fence.

A bicycle and four vehicle tires were stolen from a garage in the 1700 block of Dixon Avenue Nov. 16. Loss: $500.

A St. Paul Park woman reported her cellphone stolen at Franke's Bar, 304 Broadway Ave., Nov. 13. Loss: $200.

Drugs

A 47-year-old Richfield man was found under the influence of methamphetamines south of 14th Avenue in Grey Cloud Island Oct. 31. He was transported to Dakota County detox and his vehicle towed.

Michael James Wickstrom, 23, of St. Paul Park, and Lanisha Alexandria Galvin, 23, of South St. Paul, were caught in possession of cocaine and marijuana during a traffic stop Nov. 11. Wickstrom was arrested for 0.2 grams of cocaine. Galvin was cited for possession of 12 grams of marijuana.

Attempted burglary

A St. Paul Park man reported an attempted burglary in the 800 block of Third Street Nov. 14. The man said he saw three men trying to pry open a window and then ran off into the woods.

Domestic disturbance

Police transported an out-of-control 18-year-old male to Regions for a mental health evaluation Nov. 13. The man was off his medications and acting aggressively toward his parents and the officer.
