Newport public safety reports: Teens spotted in backyard; Lawn ornaments broken

Suspicious activity

Four juveniles were reported in a backyard in the 700 block of 21st Street Nov. 4. They fled down the street. It was unknown what they were doing.


A 43-year-old man was reportedly assaulted by three unknown males Nov. 1 in the 1800 block of 10th Avenue. The man was bleeding, but did not require medical help. The man later left with his sister.

Property damage

A 19-year-old Newport man broke his mother's lawn ornaments after getting in a fight with her about household rules Nov. 4 in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue.


Vandalism was reported in the Bailey School Forest Nov. 1, when a park bench was found flipped and broken signs were found in the park.


Police were called to the 1100 block of Mark Court Nov. 1 for a domestic disturbance, and cited a couple for drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana possession. When police arrived, the 43-year-old Newport man had reportedly fallen down the stairs and was found bloodied and intoxicated. When police were called a second time, the door was blockaded by the 45-year-old Newport woman. Police found a pipe and a shoebox filled with a green leafy substance, suspected to be marijuana. The man became hostile with police and was detained.
