Moose Lake man arrested in high speed pursuit from Woodbury to Hastings

State troopers suspect a Moose Lake man was under the influence of controlled substances when he led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit from Woodbury to Hastings in a stolen vehicle Nov. 1.

According to a Minnesota State Patrol news release, Joshua Allan Major, 30, will be booked into the Dakota County jail on charges including felony fleeing police, drunken driving and possession of a stolen vehicle once he is cleared from Regina Hospital.

He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw following his arrest in Hastings.

State troopers, the release said, pulled over a the vehicle Major was driving without taillights or license plates in Woodbury shortly after 8 p.m. Nov. 1.

Troopers suspected Major was driving under the influence before he allegedly fled the traffic stop, driving south on Highway 61. Troopers pursued the car and attempted a maneuver to stop the pursuit when Major hit stop sticks in Cottage Grove.

Major then increased his speed and drove aggressively, the release said. Troopers ended their pursuit due to high speeds near Hastings.

Troopers attempted two more maneuvers before the vehicle was stopped.

According to the release, Major refused to exit the vehicle and a K-9 unit assisted in his removal before troopers arrested him and transported him to the hospital.

Major had been driving a 2017 Dodge Durango during the chase that was stolen from a car dealership.
