Cottage Grove police reports: Stolen lawn angel; underage drinking party

Social host violation

A 40-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for violating the city's social host ordinance following a report of an underage drinking party Aug. 12 at a home in the 6000 block of Lamar Avenue. When people arrived multiple people were seen running from the home. No other citations in the case.

Tampering

A Cottage Grove man in the 7900 block of Hadley Avenue reported Aug. 23 that someone opened his unlocked garage door and attempted to take a riding lawnmower, but nothing was stolen.

Property damage

Mississippi Dunes Golf Links, 7135 Grey Cloud Trail, reported Aug. 14 that a vehicle drove onto a golf green and caused approximately $2,000 in turf and sod damage.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 22 that a window was broken on a home in the 8100 block of Ivywood Avenue. Nothing of value was reported missing from the home.

Domestic assault

A 30-year-old Hastings man was arrested Aug. 16 on suspicion of domestic assault and a traffic violation for allegedly threatening to hit his ex-girlfriend and attempting to push her out of their vehicle on Hadley Avenue near Pine Hill Elementary School. He was booked at the Washington County jail.

Theft

Walgreens, 7135 East Point Douglas Road, reported Aug. 13 the theft of $50 in merchandise. The suspect left.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 15 that a 3-foot-tall angel was taken from her yard in the 7600 block of Hyde Avenue. Loss: $69.

An 18-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for shoplifting Aug. 15 after she stole a phone charger from Holiday gas station, 6921 Pine Arbor Drive.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 16 he woke up and items were missing from his home, including his wallet and $750 cash. There was a potential suspect who had stayed overnight in the home in the 8500 block of Ivan Lane. Total loss: $1,180.

Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road, reported Aug. 16 that a laptop was stolen from the store. Police were provided a license plate number for the suspect vehicle, but the vehicle was later sold at auction.

A 26-year-old St. Paul woman, a 29-year-old Minneapolis woman and a 37-year-old St. Paul man all were cited for theft Aug. 16 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.

A 34-year-old Hastings man was ticketed for theft Aug. 16 at Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road.

A 16-year-old Cottage Grove boy was referred to the Youth Service Bureau Aug. 19 for theft after he stole merchandise from Kohl's, 7990 Hardwood Ave.

A 36-year-old St. Paul man was arrested for shoplifting and driving after revocation Aug. 19 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.

A 42-year-old St. Paul man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and providing a false name to police Aug. 19 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.

A River Falls woman reported Aug. 20 that a laptop was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on 92nd Street.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 20 that the topper was stolen from a truck he was advertising for sale at Kingsborough Trail and Highway 61. Loss: $500.

A 14-year-old St. Paul Park boy was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft after an Aug. 20 shoplifting incident at Kohl's, 7990 Hardwood Ave.

SuperAmerica, 7033 Jorgensen Lane, reported a $21 gas drive-off Aug. 21.

Police received a report Aug. 22 that a woman's license plate was stolen from her vehicle parked the BP gas station, 8490 East Point Douglas Road, and the suspect put the plate on another vehicle and left after pumping $25 worth of gas. Maplewood police later recovered the stolen license plate, but did not locate the suspect.

Police received a report Aug. 22 that a wallet containing $20 and cash cards was stolen from a vehicle parked on Jeffery Avenue.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 23 that a gym bag and other items ($150 total) were stolen from a vehicle parked at Walgreen's, 7135 East Point Douglas Road.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 23 that a backpack with a computer and GPS unit ($530 loss) were stolen from a vehicle in the 8100 block of East Point Douglas Road. A vehicle window also was damaged.
