May 2016: Charges say Cottage Grove woman left kids home, then headbutted, bit child who reported her

A Cottage Grove woman is accused of headbutting and biting a child after the girl called for help when the woman left her and two other kids home alone at night.

Angela Jeannie Patrin, 34, is charged with malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanor domestic assault in connection with an April 24 incident.

According to the criminal complaint:

The 11-year-old girl was left home alone with a 9-year-old and a 3-year-old at night. When Patrin returned about midnight, she became upset after learning the 11-year-old had called someone else to report Patrin was not home. Patrin allegedly swore at the girl, squeezed her jaw, headbutted her and bit her nose.

Another child who was home at the time corroborated the story when police and a child protection worker investigated. That child said they were supposed to go out to dinner with Patrin, but they were being rude so Patrin and another adult went out and left the kids at home, the complaint says.

Patrin’s next hearing in Washington County District Court is scheduled for June 2.
